George Clooney's Leatherheads: Nice Try, But ...

Let's call it one thumb up, one thumb down.
Here's my review, as published in Las Vegas City Life.

Updates:

1)No space in the review to write about this, but ... the fine young New Orleans-bred trumpeter Christian Scott and his band appear in a nightclub sequence in Leatherheads, backing rising-star singer Ledisi on a bluesy, steamy version of George Gershwin's "The Man I Love."

2)In another barroom sequence, another NOLA native, Randy Newman, who wrote the score, makes a cameo as a piano player. He smashes a bottle over the head of a nearby brawler.

3)I can't remember where Newman and Scott are on the Jazz Fest schedule, but I plan/hope to catch them when I visit New Orleans in May.
