This year, I again voted in the year-end movie polls conducted by the Florida Film Critics Circle (FFCC) and the Southeastern Film Critics Association (SEFCA).

Final FFCC results (from the FFCC press release):
Dec. 21, 2007 - The stark, bloody crime drama No Country For Old Men dominated the Florida Film Critics Circle's annual awards, winning best picture, best directors for Joel Coen and Ethan Coen, best supporting actor for Javier Bardem and best cinematography for Roger Deakins. (Deakins was also recognized for shooting this year's The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.)

Daniel Day-Lewis was named best actor for his portrayal of a ruthless oilman in Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood. Ellen Page, who played a precocious, pregnant teenager in the indie comedy-drama Juno, won best actress. The 20-year-old Page also received the Pauline Kael Breakout Award, while 29-year-old Diablo Cody won best screenplay for Juno.

Amy Ryan received the award for best supporting actress for playing a drug-addled mother to a kidnapped child in Gone Baby Gone. France's The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, directed by Julian Schnabel, won best foreign-language film, while the Paris-set Ratatouille was named best animated film. No End in Sight, which focuses on the U.S. occupation of Iraq, won best documentary.

A special award for best original songs was given to the Irish musical Once.

Founded in 1996, the Florida Film Critics Circle comprises 11 writers from state publications. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Phoebe Flowers has served as chairwoman since January 2005.
