Larry Blumenfeld, a longtime jazz journalist (and the guy who edited my New Orleans Gumbo cover story for Jazziz a while back) is living in the French Quarter, surviving on a journalism fellowship.
He has a great handle on the struggles facing jazz musicians and other artists who have chosen to stay in New Orleans and fight the good fight.
His latest report on the situation was published last week in the Village Voice, just in time for Jazz Fest. Larry's blog is published at arts journal.
