Memories of Monk

It's always the right time to celebrate the legacy of pianist-composer Thelonious Monk. His music -- smart, humorous, quirky, swinging -- is always welcome; it's a great antidote to bland tunes.

Good reviews of Memories of T, by Ben Riley's Monk Legacy Septet, were recently published by critics at Billboard and The New York Times.

Speaking of Monk ... Charlotte Zwerin's 1989 film Straight No Chaser, named for one of Monk's most-played tunes remains one of my favorite music documentaries.

So when will we see a feature film on Monk?
