Da Vinci Code: Alfred Molina's View

Here's an item from Ireland On-Line:

Molina warns against Da Vinci Code protests
15/05/2006 - 17:54:55

The Da Vinci Code actor Alfred Molina has said church protests against the film will only make it more popular.

The British star, who plays Bishop Aringarosa, says any controversy surrounding the Hollywood version was "overstated" and that religious leaders should know by now that when you say "don't see that film", it just makes everyone want to.

The movie adaptation of Dan Brown's best-selling book, directed by Ron Howard and starring Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou, will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday, before opening here on Friday.

Interesting that an actor in that film would make that suggestion.

although every bit helps, from the standpoint of the studio -- maybe Molina thought he was doing his bit to feed the controversy, etc.
